Explain how cargo should be loaded and secured safely on the trailer.
The load on the trailer must be distributed evenly. Heavy cargo should be placed as low as possible so that it sits as directly as possible above the axle(s). Lighter, bulkier cargo should be distributed so that the load on the coupling device does not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's specification. Cargo on the trailer must stay within the vehicle's dimensions and the permitted maximum mass (allowable weight). Secured cargo must not shift or fall off the trailer when turning or braking.
Explain how tires are checked to make sure the tread is deep enough.
To check tread depth, use the manufacturer's instructions and a special template or a ruler. Measure at the most worn part of the tread. If there is no wear indicator, the tread depth (including the trailer tire) must not be less than 1.6 mm.
Explain how tires are checked to make sure their overall condition is safe.
To check the overall condition, inspect the tires visually. They must match the type specified by the vehicle's construction and must show no signs of low air pressure, tread separation, any other mechanical damage, or wear beyond the permitted limit.
Explain how to check that the engine cooling system has the required coolant level.
With the engine off and cold, the coolant level in the reservoir marked with the maximum and minimum permitted levels must be between those marks.
Explain how to check that the parking brake is working properly.
On a level surface, with the parking brake fully applied and the transmission disengaged from the engine, a person must be unable to move (roll) the stationary vehicle by pushing it by hand.

The candidate must press the horn button so the horn sounds. The sound must be even and loud enough. If needed, the candidate must turn the exam vehicle's ignition key to the appropriate position.

Show how to check that the vehicle and trailer doors are securely and safely closed.
The candidate must physically check that every door of the vehicle and the trailer is closed and that the vehicle's interior light(s) are switched off.
