Before starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times, then hold it down at a constant level and start the engine. Starting should cause the pedal to drop slightly (not fully) and then feel firm, not spongy. When braking while moving, the vehicle must not pull to one side.
Explain how to check that the parking brake works properly.
On a level surface with the parking brake fully applied and the transmission disengaged from the engine, a person must not be able to push the vehicle by hand.

It can be found in the vehicle’s service/owner manual or on the manufacturer’s plate attached to the vehicle body.
Explain how to check overall tire condition for safe driving.
Inspect tires visually: they must match the vehicle design and show no signs of underinflation, tread separation, other mechanical damage, or excessive wear. Without wear indicators, tread depth below 1.6 mm means the tire is unfit for use.

Brake lights (main and additional) must turn on when the brake pedal is pressed and stay on continuously while pressed.

After starting the engine, steering effort should reduce noticeably. With the steered wheels straight, the steering wheel must not turn by itself. Force change across the full steering range should be smooth without jerks, vibration, or noise.

With a cold engine switched off, coolant in the reservoir marked with max/min levels must be between those marks.
